About Daddy Yankee

Reggaeton

Puerto Rican reggaeton pioneer, Daddy Yankee has shaped the global Latin urban sound since the early 2000s with his high-energy beats, rapid-fire flow, and dance-floor anthems that blend dembow rhythms with pop hooks. Renowned for electrifying stadium shows and massive festival headliners, he built a reputation for commanding crowds with choreographed performances and crowd-participation chants, while also taking extended breaks between album cycles, leading to periodic hiatuses that have punctuated his career. As of 2026, he has not announced new tour dates. His latest public appearance was serving as Grand Marshal of the 2026 Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City on June 14, 2026.
