About Esperanza Spalding

Jazz Fusion

Acclaimed jazz bassist and vocalist, Esperanza Spalding blends intricate improvisation with soulful singing, drawing from modern jazz, funk, and world-music influences. Emerging in the early 2010s, she gained recognition for her genre-defying albums that pair virtuosic bass lines with melodic vocal hooks. Her live shows are celebrated for dynamic interplay, tight ensemble work, and a willingness to re-interpret standards alongside original compositions, often creating an intimate yet electrifying atmosphere that highlights her technical mastery. As of the latest reports, Spalding has not announced new tour dates. Her most recent performance was at Beaver Creek on September 17, 2026, following a series of free summer concerts in New York City earlier in the year. She remains off the road with no forthcoming shows confirmed.
