About Pavement
California-born indie rock outfit Pavement emerged in the early 1990s, defining the lo-fi slacker aesthetic with jagged guitars, off-kilter melodies, and Stephen Malkmus’s wry lyricism. The band earned a reputation for restless, often unpredictable live shows, mixing tight set-lists with spontaneous covers and a willingness to revisit deep cuts. After a long hiatus following their 1999 breakup, they have periodically reunited for brief runs that draw enthusiastic crowds. In July 2026 the group embarked on a short American summer tour, culminating with a pre-party performance at Mosswood Meltdown in Oakland on July 17, 2026. They are also confirmed to appear on the lineup for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2027, scheduled for June 2-6, 2027.
