About The Decemberists
Portland-originated indie folk collective The Decemberists blend literate storytelling with baroque pop arrangements, weaving acoustic guitars, accordion, and orchestral flourishes into a sound that recalls early-2000s indie rock and folk traditions. The band has earned a reputation for theatrical live performances, often featuring narrative setlists, elaborate stagecraft, and a rotating cast of instrumentalists that turn each concert into a storytelling experience. At present the group is not touring, but they have returned to the studio, unveiling the new track “The Better Part of Bravery” on October 9, 2026 as part of the animated film Wildwood, which Laika has submitted for Oscar consideration.
