About Emperor
Norwegian black metal pioneers Emperor forged a cold, symphonic sound that defined the second wave of the genre in the mid-1990s, blending tremolo-driven riffs with orchestral keyboards and guttural vocals. Their live shows have earned a reputation for intense, atmospheric performances that often feature elaborate stage lighting and a ritualistic aura, cementing a devoted cult following despite long periods of inactivity. Currently Emperor has no active tour dates, but the band has been confirmed as the inaugural headliner for Fortress Festival 2027, signaling a forthcoming live appearance after their last known concert on August 1, 2026.
