Iconic American jam band known for improvisational rock that blended folk, blues, and psychedelic textures, forging a distinctive live sound that defined the counter-cultural era of the late 1960s through the 1990s. Their concerts were famed for marathon setlists, seamless segues, and a devoted community of “Deadheads” who followed the band from venue to venue. The Grateful Dead have not announced any new concerts and remain inactive on the live circuit, though they continue to issue archival recordings that capture their historic performances.
