About The Smiths
English indie-rock pioneers formed in the early 1980s, The Smiths are celebrated for jangly guitars, literate lyrics and Morrissey’s distinctive baritone. Their live reputation was built on intimate, emotionally charged shows that ended when the band split in 1987, and they have rarely reunited since. As of 2026 the group remains inactive with no announced concerts or tour dates; recent activity focuses on a rare-vinyl boxset released in August 2026, but no live performances are planned.
